Cisco in NYC

New York

As you can tell by the awful cell phone picture from my hotel room window, I was in New York earlier this week, at Cisco Systems Inc.’s Internet of Everything event. IT World Canada has published one Dweeb Media story from the event, regarding Cisco’s EnergyWise Suite of power monitoring and management software for any Internet Protocol-connected device. For example, German bankĀ Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe uses the software to shut down its ATMs after hours, saving $250 per machine per year in eletricity costs. You can read it here.

I’ve got plenty of left over material that can serve as hooks for stories, including:

* How and why we must change the way we prepare our children for their education

* How arenas and sporting venues are offering a more connected experience to stand up to their stiffest competition ever: the 60-inch screen and the couch

* How an Internet-connected rail infrastructure can save billions.

Contact me if you’re interested and I can give you a fuller abstract.
